Intriguing. That was my first impression of Hidden Among Us. And as I delve deeper into the story, I found myself liking the dark, mysterious and magical world of elven people known as the Hidden, the part it plays in the life of fourteen year-old, Lissy, and its plan on destroying humanity.

Hidden Among Us was told in multiple point of views which is one of the things I admired in the book. There's Lissy, the girl that just might save or destroy humans as what had been planned more than a decade ago before her mother made a bargain with the Hidden. Rafe, Lissy's brother, intent on finding a loophole in that bargain and save her by whatever means he could find. Miriam, Lissy and Rafe's mother. And then Joe, the stepbrother who is willing to help them even if this meant including himself in this twisted story of Lissy's family. It was like watching a movie since every character's POV was set in a different place and time, each of them having different roles to play but still managed not to wander very far from the main point. Another thing I like in reading books with multiple viewpoints is I get to know another character from a different angle. I think it makes me see more from a certain character the way the author wants me to see it, rather than just basing the whole thing from my own opinion. It worked out well for the story.

The plot is absolutely interesting and original. A very dark and haunting story of faerie headed by the ruthless Swan King. I liked the writing as well. There are some flaws in it but it was more than I initially thought it would be. Also, this book was set in the UK. Kind of a surprise for me actually. I haven't read many British books! Although now that I think about it, this might be my second or third one. And I liked it, mind you.

I wouldn't consider that ending a cliffhanger. It might leave you wanting for the next book but I was satisfied with it. It was kind of open-ended but not the type that would make you hurl a lot of unanswered questions and demand the sequel right away. All in all, Hidden Among Us is a book I'd recommend. It was great and I enjoyed reading it. Worth the try :)
