Me and My Bookshelf (31)

This is where I feature the books I received, bought, gifted or won that are newly added in my physical shelf, which means no e-books and the like, and recount epic book hauling stories. It is usually posted on Saturdays.

The time I stop buying books will never arrive but at least I'm not spending as much these days. I'd say it's progress. This May I bought 9 books but only 2 of those are in this haul. I have five coming in the mail in a couple of days and two more in a month but I'll save them for another time.

Review: The Mistake by Elle Kennedy

The Mistake
(Off-Campus #2)
by Elle Kennedy
Published: April 28, 2015

He’s a player in more ways than one…

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

Read Me Like a Book
by Liz Kessler
Published: May 14, 2015
The Book Depository
__________

Ashleigh Walker is in love. You know the feeling - that intense, heart-racing, all-consuming emotion that can only come with first love. It's enough to stop her worrying about bad grades at college. Enough to distract her from her parents' marriage troubles. There's just one thing bothering her . . .

Shouldn't it be her boyfriend, Dylan, who makes her feel this way - not Miss Murray, her English teacher?

A thought-provoking coming out story from a highly skilled author.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
by Colleen Clayton
Published: October 9, 2012

How can you talk about something you can’t remember?
Witty and poignant, Colleen Clayton’s stunning debut is a story about moving on after the unthinkable happens.

Why you should read it: This book is heartbreaking but beautiful. If you're looking for something real, this is for you. Also, Corey is amazing.

Thoughts on Game of Thrones Season 1

Source: Sciencefiction
*Beware: rambling ensues.

Whenever my high school batchmates, aka "the loquacious", get together there is the usual catching up and the talking over each other you can't follow what everyone is saying anymore as the discussion heats up until one or two or more would eventually look at each other, laugh, and say, "Holy crap, it's like high school once again." And the better part of the day will always, always be spent talking about practically all the TV series or movies ever made.

COVER LOVIN': Crossed by Eliza Crewe

I've been waiting a long time for this book and... well, it's still not out yet but now it has a cover, a summary, and a publication date. Before we move on, let me ask you a question.

DO YOU EVEN KNOW THE SOUL EATERS SERIES? HAVE YOU STARTED READING IT, AT LEAST?

No? Then get out. But seriously, it's time you pick these books up. This series is full of awesome! Two words, SOUL EATERS. Duh.

May 2015 TBR

*This post was previously titled April 2015 TBR. I didn't realize until 4 hours and a dozen social media shares later. It's MAY. Dammit. Sorry for the wrong links I left on your comments or feed :)

Guess this means summer is officially over? It’s been raining a lot since last week and there was that one freaking scary thunder yesterday that I wouldn't have noticed because I had my earphones on with the volume up, but it was so loud it made me jump so high and run for cover because I literally felt the house shake and I was oh-so-alone (everyone's talking about it). Though it’s still unbelievably hot whenever the sun is out and shining. Oh, well.

I’m calling this month's TBR endeavor... operation finish that series. Or duology, trilogy, whatever. But I’m only including five in this list since I know for a fact that I usually – usually? try always – don’t stick to my list. That way I have plenty of room for other books whenever the reading mood deviates. Furthermore, these are series enders so that makes it much harder for me to accomplish.

COVER REVEAL + Teasers: Joni, Underway by Kelly Oram

This is a surprise. I didn't know Kelly Oram has a new book - a NEW ADULT book - that was co-written with her HUSBAND. Can you tell I'm excited? I'm a big fan of Kelly Oram. And "a journey across the ominous dark blue of the Atlantic Ocean with a small, eccentric crew, and the young Captain Reid, whose gorgeous looks are only outmatched by his talent for care and kindness"? HELLS YEAH!

Title: Joni, Underway
Authors: Kelly Oram & Jonathan Harrow

April 2015 Reads + Monthly Recap

I'd say this year's progress is making me ecstatic. One of my plans is to read as many books in my physical TBR as I can before I buy more. It's not an easy feat but I'm getting there. Another is to try and pick up the books that has been in my Goodreads TBR list for years aka books 1-100 out of the 980 (currently) and I've managed to read a number of them so far.

Moving on to this month's wrap-up pile, I read a total of 12 books including a series (another yay!):
