Review: Double Crossed by Ally Carter

Double Crossed: A Spies and Thieves Story
(Gallagher Girls #5.5, Heist Society #2.5)
by Ally Carter

Macey McHenry—Glamorous society girl or spy-in-training?

W.W. Hale V—Heir to an American dynasty or master thief?

There are two sides to every coin. Whether these two can work together is a tossup.

Born into privilege, Macey and Hale are experts at mingling with the upper class. But even if they’ve never raised an eyebrow at the glitz, neither teenager has ever felt at home with the glamour.

When Macey and Hale meet at a society gala, the party takes a dangerous turn. Suddenly they’re at the center of a hostage situation, and it’s up to them to stop the thugs from becoming hostile. Will Macey’s spy skills and Hale’s con-man ways be enough to outsmart a ruthless gang? Or will they have to seek out the ultimate inside girl to help?

The worlds of Heist Society and the Gallagher Girls collide in Ally Carter’s fast-paced, high-stakes and tantalizing new story. Get a behind the scenes glimpse as Ally delivers an irresistible thriller that is full of her signature style and savvy twists.

I was really surprised and beyond excited when I learned about this crossover. I've thought about it, like everytime, but it never really came to me as a possibility until that news. Heist Soc meets GG? Talk about badass! So it would be totally understandable if I had a major freak-out and nearly sleepless nights counting down the days until I got this little piece of heaven.

It's short - actually, Ally's books are always too short for me, I can't seem to get enough, which is also probably the point - but everything you might look for in a book that is undoubtedly Ally's is there. The action, the wit, the elegance.. I don't know when I will ever get tired of reading her books, oh, right - how about never? We get to read from Hale and Macy's point of view and then there's Kat and Abby! Best crossover EVER! And, ohmygod, I can't believe a story this short can leave me an ending like that. No way! There has to be more.

If you haven't read this yet.. well, what? WHY NOT? Go ahead and do so, it's amazing, and brilliant and absolutely free! I'm positively sure you'll like it and if you did not - unbelievably so - well, what's there to lose? Just click THIS and start reading. Not a minute amount of your time will be wasted.

And Ally, please, PLEASE, PLEASE! I am begging you. Please make more of these, I can handle a few fifty pages but I can't live without HS and GG.

"Someday I've got to introduce her to Cammie."

Yes, Macy! You better! And then maybe we'll have a little of Zach and Hale, Kat and Cammie, Gabrielle and Macy, Simon and Liz, Nick and Bex or Hamish and Angus! *fingers crossed* *double crossed*

Words!

He seemed almost serious when he said, "I'm sorry if I'm not flirting with you. I'm kind of spoken for."
"I'm sorry if I'm not disappointed. I kind of don't care."
"A year ago your father was running for vice president. That's how I knew your name."
"I was America's sweetheart." Macy said, a little too much saccharine in her voice.
He gave her a smile. "America could do worse."

“You're late." Kat said as soon as Hale put the phone to his ear. She wasn't the kind of girl to wait for hello.
"What can I say? Macey McHenry has been throwing herself at me..."
"See, that's the kind of thing that would make me jealous if she weren't way out of your league."
"You know, if I had feelings, that might have hurt them.”
