This book is the freshest I've read in while. It has definitely caught me the first time I've set my eyes on the first few pages and loved it all the way until the end.
Elisa’s character is one of the many things I admired in the book. She’s not perfect and she knows it. So it is a great mystery to her when she was married to a handsome king when there is her beautiful, born-to-rule and charismatic older sister. But it doesn't make her a damsel in distress. She’s very intelligent, intuitive and such a strong and brave character. With a lot of enemies looking for her, she began to understand her destiny, and her purpose as the chosen one. Her character developed into the quality of a true leader with no one beside her but the enemies turned allies.
The romance is both sweet and sad but realistic for a girl like Elisa who is royalty and has a great responsibility on her shoulders. I learned to love each and every character that it is hard to eventually let go of them but is essentially a very good turn in the book since it makes it more real for me. And the world Rae Carson invented is a vast and colorful one that I can’t stop picturing them in my head. I loved every minute I spent with Elisa on her journey across endless deserts and under blistering suns, an adventure where she found true friends.
The book also has a light approach to religion which is okay since it plays a great part in the story. It’s not the type that very much delves into the subject and may cause a change of beliefs or build up issues and such with regards to any religious facts. It actually focuses more on Elisa’s destiny and her own beliefs and trust.
The Girl of Fire and Thorns is a book I’d definitely recommend to everyone out there. Rae Carson created a new and magical world for me to live in filled with thousands of enchanting journeys of love, destiny, faith and the discovery of what lies within one’s self.

Oh wow. I haven't heard of this one before but I love the concept. When you say that you really came to care for the characters then I know it's a great book. That is the biggest thing that takes a book from good to great, characters that are important to you by the end.
