Whatever. Let's move on to the recap part. So this August I read 14 books and 1 novella. I was hoping to read 18 - 20 and for a while it seemed possible especially when I was reading 1 book a day on the first week but as I have predicted, it was a very busy month and stuff besides reading and blogging had to be done eventually.
Divinicus Nex Chronicles 1 & 2 by A & E Kirk (4 stars) - These books are really enjoyable! The characters are so funny and I can't help but love them especially the Hex Boys and the Lahey family. Cannot wait to read the third book!
Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch (3 stars) - I'm kind of conflicted with this one. I love the main character, Meira, even from the start. I like both Mather and Theron. The world-building and action scenes were okay, too, but... I dunno. I was still a bit underwhelmed by it. I'm not so sure if I'm going to read the sequel.
Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella (4 stars) - This is the first book I read by Sophie Kinsella. Finally! After years of just "wanting" to read her books, I finally did. Finding Audrey was really fun with great family dynamics. I'm glad to have picked it up first.
Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis (4 stars) - It's been a while since I last read a dystopian book and I'm most probably not picking up any new releases anytime soon (except Revolution of Ivy because DUH) but Not a Drop to Drink is a freaking great read. It's mainly about character development than chaos and action in a dystopia and I just loved the way it was written. I'm looking forward to reading more of Mindy McGinnis' books.
Eon: Dragoneye Reborn by Alison Goodman (2 stars) - So disappointed with this. Eon had been in my TBR pile for YEARS before I finally decided to read it. It sounded like my kind of book - action, fantasy, dragons... and I've heard so many praises from my favorite reviewers but it BORED me. I was so frustrated with the main character and I thought the story was dragging. I am still going to read the sequel because I want to know what happens after Eon and with the way it ended I'm hoping it picks up in Eona.
Velvet Undercover by Teri Brown (3.5 stars) - My review of this book will be up soon but I just want to say I enjoyed this book. Secret girl societies and espionage? Come on.
Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin by Mariana Zapata (1.5 stars) - This is barely a 200-page book but it took me an awfully long time to finish. The reason why I kind of hated this book is mainly because of the characters' behaviors. I don't know. I wasn't amused.
Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare (4 stars) - Oooh! This is my first Tessa Dare read and I'm really, really happy I picked it up! Adult Historical Romances are not my thing but I've heard great things about the author's works so... I enjoyed Romancing the Duke so much I vowed I would read EVERYTHING by Tessa Dare. I can hardly wait to pick up ANY book by her.
Magnificent Devices 1, 2 & 3 by Shelley Adina (3 stars) - I started this series thinking of binge-reading all 8 books in a week but I only got to book 3 until I decided to start another book. Magnificent Devices is another steampunk series I had so much fun reading ans I'm definitely reading the rest of it.
Against the Wall by Julie Prestsater (2 stars) - This book was... ehhh. The romance could have been sweet except that I couldn't develop a connection with the characters. I think the guy just came out of nowhere even if he was a constant in the main character's life before he became the love interest. And I just... that cover. Erhmm.. *shakes head* NOPE.
Mesmerized by Audra Cole and Bella Love-Wins (2.5 stars) - I gave this one an additional 0.5 star (lol) because for a billionaire and Hollywood A-lister who intends to win back the love of the main character, Brandon is actually a pretty decent guy. Huh. Still doesn't change the fact that it was all too easy for Charity to ditch her current, almost-fiancee boyfriend for a guy who left her three years ago, the day before they were supposed to get married. Uhhh..
Last Request by Rachel Vincent (4 stars) - A Soulscreamers novella that happens between the second to the last and last chapter of the series conclusion, My Soul to Lose. I read My Soul to Lose years ago but Last Request still made me cry. I love this series so much.
I also completed my 2015 Reading Challenge this August. Way-ho!
And my fish gave birth to six baby fishes. They were so tiny at first you could hardly see them. They're a bit bigger now and their color has changed from gray to orange and black. And I think the mother is pregnant. AGAIN. I don't even know if that's possible.
