I believe the last time I made a music related post was almost a year ago *cringe*
Anyway, here are some of the songs that are currently in my feel-good playlist.
"Verge" by Owl City ft. Aloe Blacc
I love Owl City's Mobile Orchestra album. Verge is one of my most favorite and Aloe Blacc's voice is amazing! It is also because of this song that I discovered People Are Awesome's channel on Youtube.
It's been a while since I last heard some of these songs but I noticed that I terribly missed them so now they are also included in my current playlist along with these new ones I've loved since summer break:
1) Demons by Imagine Dragons
I dedicate this song to Meda (Cracked and Crushed by Eliza Crewe - amazing book!).
"They say it's what you make I say it's up to fate It's woven in my soul I need to let you go"
I'm finally done reading Ignite Me! It was amazing, as expected and right now I only have a draft of my review. I probably won't be able to finalize it until maybe tomorrow because I am currently writing a reaction paper for class. It's about the movie we watched yesterday, Pirates of Silicon Valley. I have a lot to say about it since the topic is related to my future life and well, lots of big names and influential people so it will be pretty long. That's also one way of saying that I don't have anything relevant to post today so I figured maybe we can just sing? Heh.
Ah, well. I love P!NK. Aside from the wonderful beat and music of her songs, they're also very meaningful. One of her songs I am in love with at the moment is True Love. It reminds me of a lot of love and hate relationships I read in books (most of them annoying) but this is a great song so it should also be associated with one of my favorite hate relationships. Ryn and Vi of the Creepy Hollow series. It actually wasn't the I-hate-him-but-at-the-same-time-I-love-him kind but these two started as childhood friends but because of one tragedy they ended up hating each other and as competitions. I'm talking about pure hate (without any hidden desires or something like that, pffft!) that makes you regret losing what you had before everything was ruined. But when they finally were given this chance to sort their hate and bring back that lost friendship one little step at a time, I saw how deep that friendship goes and how much they genuinely care for each other. So you know, I'm not just talking about love on a romantic level.
I love her voice, I love her songs, I love Ellie Goulding.
I really liked Lights when I first heard it years ago but I didn't really put too much attention to it then. When Anything Could Happen came out last year, of course I loved it and that song was a really big hit which made me curious about the singer and her other songs. That's when I found out that she was also the one who sang Lights. Her songs are what's currently on repeat in my music playlist.
Here are a few of my favorites and you really should listen to them!
I first heard this song back when I was in high school -- pretty far back -- and at that time, this was just another rock, pop punk song by Paramore I adored. But when I heard it again recently, it caught my attention and I had a totally different reaction. Instead of feeling all nostalgic and thinking about how much I missed this song, when it came to the chorus I was like, 'OHMYGOD, you're talking about cliffhangers, right?'
It's supposed to be review day. I planned on writing my review of Reboot by Amy Tintera yesterday and then post it now but I got caught up doing A FEW school works which resulted to me sleeping at 3 in the morning and waking up late (7 freaking o'clock) with only 20 minutes left before my first class. And there I go again, doing my daily morning exercise which consists of running from our university's second gate to the farthest building on campus, up 4 flights of stairs and I'm fit! Anyway, it seems like I don't have much time to write a decent review so I opted for a short and easy post. Music and Lyrics!
I've mentioned in one of my previous post about a few of the training seminars I attended this summer and one of it required a 3-day stay away from civilization. Kidding. I only meant no internet and gadgets allowed except our facilitators and one of them has a really cool playlist. I also heard a few songs that were presented during talks, played for wake-up calls or during breaks that I thought was awesome so when I got home, they immediately went on repeat.
Yesterday, I told myself I will write three reviews to post or schedule the following day. But I didn't because I'm lazy and I'm tired. What I did was set my alarm really early so I can do it before I go to school for enrollment and a program I needed to attend. What really happened was that I woke with just enough time to get ready, have my breakfast and travel. I wasn't late by the way. So now here I am, I just got back home after spending 8 hours at school with no review or anything at all for that matter, the reason why I decided to do a Music and Lyrics post instead which I haven't done in a while anyway-- *knock, knock*
Hi guys! You all should know how much I - we - love Clockwork Princess. [read review HERE]
In one of our favorite parts in the book I asked my sister what song reminds her of it. She told me it was Blinding Light by Switchfoot which is also what I had in mind so we both agreed that this is going to be the one.
"Blinding Light"
by Switchfoot
Album: Vice Verses
You know what is our most favorite scene in Clockwork Princess? JEM's BRIDAL GIFT TO TESSA!!! It was.. ohmygosh. No words or gestures can explain it.
Well, that's all from me today! Gotta run. Still have class :)
With the stress of exams and everything else, I haven't been very attentive of my blog. Since I have free - albeit little - time for now, I am going to use it to wander way off of school related works. By which, I meant to convince you guys to listen to this amazing song. That is, if you haven't heard it yet.
Thrive
by Switchfoot
Album: Vice Verses
I've been listening to this album for very long time now but it still feels like I'm hearing it for the first time. I loved all of the songs in it - the beat, the lyrics.. I can't get over it. If it is entirely up to me, I'd feature all 12 songs now, but I'm afraid I haven't got much time. The reason why I particularly chose Thrive over the others is because it reminds me of Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion. One of the things we - my sister and I - loved in the movie is its soundtrack so when we heard this song she asked me if it's included in the OST and I told her I'm not sure. True enough, it's not in the movie but I have to admit it's perfect so I decided to make this my theme song for the book.
If you listen to the entire lyrics, it definitely sounds like 'R'. I hope you love this song, and don't let me stop you - listen to the whole album. Switchfoot is freaking amazing! :)
“What is living in the now to you?” I ask. “Just that dwelling and planning is bullshit,” he says. “You dwell on the past, you can’t move forward. Spend too much time planning for the future and you just push yourself backwards, or you stay stagnant in the same place all your life. Live in the moment, where everything is just right, take your time and limit your bad memories and you’ll get wherever it is you’re going a lot faster and with less bumps in the road along the way.”
A beautiful thought quoted from The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski. When I read this part, I just knew what the perfect song for this one is.
I love it when I hear an unfamiliar song randomly, say when I am walking and I hear it playing in the neighborhood's radio or in the mall, in a movie soundtrack, etc. and immediately like it. All I can think is I have to know what song that is, no matter how last year it may be. Even if it is softly playing in the background of a movie; I notice it and that's why I never fail to check a movie's soundtrack afterwards. For me, it's every bit as important as the movie itself.
Rule the World
by Take That
Album: Beautiful World
This song is one of the soundtrack from the movie Stardust. I really love this song. It's perfect for the the movie. You rarely hear this type of music these days and lately I've been listening to a lot of songs I used to listen long time ago. It's nice to hear them again after thousands of more modern and up-beat ones that "rule the world" now. It's very stirring and comforting.
Wipe Your Eyes
by Maroon 5
Album: Overexposed (Deluxe Edition)
Wipe Your Eyes is one of my favorites in Maroon 5's latest album, Overexposed. One of my most played album recently, even my mom hums it. I loved most of the tracks actually, but Wipe Your Eyes reminds me a lot of Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout (read my review here). I think it's playing in the background while I was reading Onyx and the song suddenly registered and then I was all giddy saying how a perfect coincidence it was hearing the song when I was in the most fitting part of the book!
See? See? Have you heard this song? What do you think? If not, well, you guys should definitely check it out. And that's it for my post today. I have to go study for my exams. Happy Wednesday! :)
Hello! I know it's been a while since my last post but I had exams last week and I was on a one-day vacation yesterday. Anyway, this whole month was pretty eventful and there's so little time left to do some unwinding but I always manage to find some for myself even if it's for an hour or two. With regards to books, yeah, my TBR list is still piling up and I wasn't able to trim them down. I just got back to them yesterday and I am yet to finish one. So for now, let's talk about music!
Music is one of the most effective ways I can unwind. Whenever I'm reading there are times when a song reminds me of a certain part of the book I like. Or when an old song comes up, I feel very nostalgic. I love what it feels like singing at the top of my lungs and the reason behind it and how it makes me very happy. Although I find it distracting sometimes, I can't help but feel really excited when I can relate a song to a book or a particular memory. "I'm no expert in neurology; but music must have like some direct link to the part of your brain where emotions live, because sometimes I will hear a song that I have not heard in a while, and it will literally trigger not just a memory but it will make me feel the way that I felt at a certain point in my life."
-Gayle Forman, Author of If I Stay and Where She Went Recently, the song most played in our house is Some Nights by Fun. My sister and I can't stop singing this song! I love it and I think its beautiful.
